Our original travel plans called for driving home on Thursday. On Tuesday, however, we learned that my Great Aunt Gwen had passed away at the age of 89. Her funeral, scheduled for Friday in Salt Lake City, would bring my Dixon grandparents down from their home in Idaho. Delaying our return a day would allow us a chance to see them, so delay we did!
Gavin and I went for an early jog that day. He was crazy, I was grumpy; the jog was the perfect fix, even if we got caught in the rain. When I got home, Zachary was eating Cocoa Puffs for breakfast...in a serving bowl. He saw nothing wrong with this, and ate every bite.
Then we all took a tour of the Bean Museum. Who knew that taxidermified creatures could be so entertaining? Zach and Ty stopped to read information plaques, compare species, and view educational movies. How was this better than the real live zoo? The irony of this free outing being so successful was not lost on me.
Duane and Becky were generous to accommodate our "bonus day," but they did have an appointment to keep on Thursday. So while they attended a BYU luncheon, Garry took Zach and Tyler to see Monsters vs. Aliens at the dollar theater. (I napped with babies this time.) At the end of it, Tyler leaped into Garry's arms and gave him a big hug. He really appreciated the movie outing!
In the late afternoon we journeyed to South Jordan to see Grandma and Grandpa "Idaho." Our journey included a missed turn, lots of driving aimlessly, traffic, construction, and an eventual "rescue us" phone call, but we made it! Seeing my grandparents (and my parents and sister, and my gracious aunt and uncle who hosted us all) was great! I will treasure these pictures!
And then Garry and I got our date: Cafe Rio and Harry Potter. Lexi came along, but we still managed to enjoy ourselves! (How could we not, when free babysitting and pork salad are involved?) So thanks, Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Heidi, and Grandma Great! We had a lovely time with you this week, and can't wait to see you in October!

It looks like it was a fabulous trip! Nothing like going home to good ol' Utah! And you hit some of its best highlights, temples, Cafe Rio, dollar theater, Y Mountain, BYU Creamery, perfection. Your hair looks great, as does Garry's slick highlights! The picture of Gavin with your grandparents is so perfectly fitting with his current stage! Our boys LOVED that museum when Adam was back getting his MBA, and since it was free...we were there A LOT! See you soon!
Harry Potter and Cafe Rio!!! Awesome date! Looks like you had a action packed vacation!
I love those pictures.
We had a fabulous time too. Thanks for making the effort to come. We all had a great time.
