The inevitable happened

We have experienced yet another parenting rite of passage: the child-sponsored haircut. Not surprisingly, Gavin wielded the scissors and Lexi was an unwitting accomplice/ victim.  Also not surprisingly, the nefarious act took place in a corner of the back yard, with the participants clearly aware of their naughtiness.  Thank goodness Garry caught them before Gavin did more damage.

You'd never know both kids had beautiful haircuts this morning.   I keep chanting, "It's just hair...it's just hair...it's just hair..." and trying not to feel too guilty about the parental neglect that allowed such a thing to happen in the first place.

Awww, doggone it! At least Lexi's isn't too noticeable, and a buzz will grow out on a boy before you know it, if you decide not to keep it. :)

He and you will laugh about it someday. I remember when Heidi did it to her cousin and her cousin did it to her. When they came up from the basement her cousin's mom and I burst into a fit of laughter. That made them cry but it was pretty funny. It is just hair and it will grow back so quickly. Just about every kid does it.

I love it. I really do. I think you should just leave Lexi's as is for awhile. Anyone who sees it will just smile and remember when their kids did that.

Such a sad face! Hopefully he will remember the hair devastation the next time he thinks scissors plus hair equals fun.
