A quick question

Do any of you have recommendations for excellent Christmas books for children? I'm on the hunt but don't know what I'm looking for. Surely some of you have favorites you can share!

Thanks!

Hi! I'm a friend of Angie's, and just decided to post a comment . . . one of my favorites is "The Christmas Orange". LOVE THAT BOOK! And, since I'm in AZ, I love to give it as a gift, with a bag of oranges, to friends.

My absolute favorite is Polar Express--but that one's already pretty popular, though.

My kids love the "Do You See What I See?" Christmas I Spy book. Not sure if your kids like those, but mine never get tired of them

I love the "Bear" books (there are 6 if them) so, "The Bear Stays Up," by Karma Wilson has become a Christmas classic in our house.

Anything by Jan Brett is beautiful. My kids love her books and she has tons of Christmas ones. Her website is fun too.

If youre looking for something cute, funny and non-traditional look up "Olive, the other reindeer" We just got it for Caitlyn and its hallarious. Its about a dog named Olive and when she heard the line "All of the other reindeer" she thought she should head to the North Pole to help Santa. Really cute and inventive.

I have some at school that I love to read to my school kids. I'll bring them home and we'll read lots of my Christmas stories when they come. I can't wait to read to them. I also can't wait to see you all. It's going to be so fun for us.

Some of our favorites:
Snowmen at Christmas, This is the Stable (by Cynthia Cotten), What Star is This? (by Joseph Slate).

So many of the ones already mentioned are great. A little longer, but so good, "The Little Girl Who Wanted it Christmas Everyday." I love the "Christmas Oranges" already mentioned. I will have more ideas once we get the Christmas decor out and all the books come out with it! And that addendum to Zach's economics lesson is so awesome! The kindness of strangers is such an incredible lesson too.

We like the Eric Carle one--I think it is Drem Snow, already mentioned above.

We have the Jan Brett Twas the Night Before Christmas. I noticed our Costco has it in a 10th anniversary edition. It is pretty close to the original poem. Last year we added the Olivia Christmas book (can't think of exact title)and Junie B. Jones "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells P.S. So Does May" that cracks my girls up. And I definitely like Chris Van Allsburg "The Polar Express" book (though we don't like the movie at all).

One of my favorites around Christmas time, although it's not specifically a "Christmas" book is "The Littlest Angel" by Charles Tazewell, illustrated by Paul Micich. It's a very sweet story that I've loved since I was a child.

The 3rd one is a board book. Merry Christmas Big, Hungry Bear!
by Don & Audrey Wood. If you don't know the original story (The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear) or these authors I recommend checking them out. They have some terrific books (like The Napping House and King Bidgood's in the Bathtub). Some just by Don or Audrey.

Ems just found this book in her collection again and has been "reading" it or asking for it be read for 3 days straight.

Oh, and one more.
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey.
