I tried the old rice trick last year when I put my cell phone through the washing machine -- to no avail. Just a bunch of wasted rice. But it works for some. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Sorry about your phone....
My money is still on you buying a new cell phone, and the old green one comes back to life! (But it is a good excuse for a new phone if you want one, and you can't exactly be phone-less for a few weeks in the meantime, can you?!)
