Bottle battle

She's awfully cute, this Lexi girl.
So cute, in fact, that when editing pictures
for a post about a frustrating issue,
one might easily forget what is frustrating
and melt into a puddle of mush
over those beautiful blue eyes.

But the photos below spark a memory...
a memory of the fact that Lexi

utterly
emphatically
completely
indubitably
unequivocally
absolutely

refuses to take a bottle.
End of story.

But she thinks it's a great {messy} chew toy.

This would be amusing
if a painful nursing issue
didn't make me want to
scream
every time she wanted to eat.

A bottle really would have been a happy solution this week.

Oh, well.

I did capture this fun video the other day
when I gave up the
bottle battle.

Enjoy.

Maybe I am a little mean and old school, but she won't die before learning to use the bottle. It's time to go cold turkey.

I am so sorry to hear there is a new painful nursing issue! You sure have gone through the wringer with nursing, I can imagine the bottle feels like a beautiful oasis that you need but just can't reach. We've had many bottle battles, that I usually just gave up on too. The one thing that did work...sometimes...was the Nuby brand sippy cups. They were just different enough but the same enough from a bottle that they were acceptable. I also have this cool-looking bottle that is supposed to be "like the breast" that you can borrow and give a try to if you'd like so you don't have to go buy one unless you know it works. We have always had such bad luck with the bottle I thought I'd give it a try, but Tommy, of course, has no problem (yet) with bottles, so I haven't even tried it. Let me know if you want to give it a shot!

Yes, she is pretty darn cute! So sorry she wouldn't take a bottle when needed. Three weeks ago when I needed Ethan to take the bottle he refused as well. He took it great when he was a couple months old, but I guess it had been too long and he wanted nothing to do with it. Arg! I've thought about trying a sippy cup, although he feels too young for that. Good luck. Hope your issue is resolved soon. =)

When I was nursing Mary, the doctors and nurses told me I had to quit. Mary was getting more blood than milk, and I was in AGONY!
Mary would not take a bottle, and never did until she was 9 months old. We tried everything. Absolutely everything. I was forced to battle out the nursing (which was excruciating the entire 9 months..and terrible for Mary too). Same thing happened with Sam, but he took the bottle at 2 months, so I was pain free after that, and he was able to gain weight.
I guess they will just decide for themselves when it is bottle time.
Until then...hang in there. I know it is rough. The bottle that finally worked with both of my kids was the one that is supposed to be just like the breast. It is expensive, but so worth it.

I hope you find a solution. Amy thought the video was hilarious. She tried to mimick Lexi's screeching, but it came out like a little chirp. What a beautiful girl you have.

I went cold turkey with Wyatt. He missed about two feedings and decided to go for the bottle - although I put breast milk in it for the first week or so then gradually changed to formula. It was a crappy day, but in the end he did it. Aren't stubborn children fun?

pass it on!
