Buzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Every time I comb the boys' hair, they complain. Exacerbating this problem is the sad fact that the boys and Garry have gone far longer than usual without haircuts. Life has been busy and the house must always be clean, so a series of kitchen haircuts always seems like too much work. Zach and Tyler have been begging (begging, I tell you) for buzzes.

I'm not a great fan of the buzz, but I have to admit that a buzz is very low-maintenance and cool in hot weather. So I struck a deal with the boys: I would buzz their hair on the first day of summer.

That would be today.

One down, two to go.

I couldn't bear to buzz Gavin's hair, so I just trimmed it up a bit.

This full dustpan is equal parts gross and fascinating!

I have no idea what to do with this mop....except let it grow. Girl hair is a mystery to me.

I still don't love the buzzed look, but it's a step up from a razor shave, which is what Zach wanted. And the boys' hair will have time to grow out before family pictures in August. And I scored myself some Cool Mom points, too. I always need those!

Wow, Zach especially looks like a completely different child! Amazing. Cool Mom points are worth a lot, especially for something little like hair that just grows right back. Well done!

Ah, the buzz cuts of summer. Yes, my brothers would always ask for a buzz cut in the summer. Definitely nice low-maintenance. I think you could make a small wig with all that hair in the dustpan. =)

You handled the buzz cuts well. And your boys look like a million bucks. Only some people can pull it off.
Oh, and you asked me if Morgan went to MHS. Well, he sure did. He graduated in 1994. I even sat behind him in Seminary my sophmore year. Crazy huh? He and I have a lot of the same fun memories!

I remember my brothers having buzz cuts in the summer. Nice and cool--and your boys look great!

As for the girl hair, I just trim up the ends to avoid any mullet issues. And, I've always kept Whitney's with bangs and Kallie's without. It just suits them!

(I will admit here that I am LOST on boys hair. I'm sure Clayton's needs a trim, but I really have no idea what to do with it!)

They look great! I think buzzing for summer is cool, if you know what I mean Vern:)

The boys look good. We love starting the summer off with a nice short cut too. Although these days the boys are getting those silly things called "opinions" on what they want done with their hair, so I don't always get my way!

if i ever have boys they are totally doing the summer buzz. i LOVE the buzz. fuzzy headed boys are adorable. they remind me of ryan. a lot. your kids are so cute.

ps: tyler's dimple is on my top 10 favorite things about this day.

also: lexi is your twin, heidi. she reminds me so much of your baby pictures!

I love buzz cuts in the summer! Reminds me of all my little brothers.

As for Lexi's hair, let it grow and grow and grow. Then one day, you'll realize she has a mullet and then you whack off about 3 inches off the back and she'll look adorable. I am anti-bangs because they are sooo much work to keep trimmed, even and tidy looking. Plus my kids have weird cowlicks and bangs really don't work.

haha...you could always take the hair trimmings and make a wig for lexi until she gets her own hair in longer.

On second thought, maybe not.

pass it on!
